Clarisoft Data Collection Utility
unity comes optionally with the Clarisoft Data Collection Utility (DCU). The DCU is like a coding tool "plugin" developed by Clarisoft with assistance from and the world leading ICD-10-AM Coding training body, the Health Information Managers Association of Australia (HIMAA).
The DCU has been developed to allow less experienced ICD-10-AM coders and even doctors and clinical nurse specialists to code hospital based admissions to a high standard. Its development was instigated by the need for new overseas territories taking on the ICD-10-AM and AR-DRG systems to be able to cover the short-term lack of experienced coding staff.
Once patient admissions are coded using the DCU, the level of expert coder review is significantly reduced allowing hospitals to stay on top of coding for DRG Financing purposes. The DCU not only significantly speeds coding by experienced and inexperienced coders alike, it helps ensure maximal legal DRG return for each admission and minimize costly coding errors . It is particularly useful for those countries who are just beginning to use ICD-10-AM and the AR-DRG for Coding / Costing and Billing purposes who do not have a great excess of trained HIM's at their disposal.
In addition, the DCU can receive its input data directly from the doctor or other assigned staff member, the Hospital PAS, or even from an external or remote data supplier via unity interfaces.
